How to Use Your Calling Features

LightNex offers a multitude of advanced features that you can use to enhance your telephone service. This page contains information on what these features do and how you can use them.

900 Block
900 Block disallows calls to the 900 or 976 prefixes. This service cannot be activated or deactivated from your phone. A service order is required to remove or add it.

Anonymous Call Rejection
Anonymous Call Rejection blocks callers who have blocked or otherwise do not provide their Caller ID information. Blocked callers are greeted with a message that their call has been blocked and to try again without Caller ID Block.

Once enabled on your account, this feature can be activated and deactivated via your phone.
To Activate: *77
To Deactivate: *87

Automatic Callback
Automatic Callback allows you to easily return your last incoming call. Once enabled on your account, this feature can be activated via your phone.
To Activate: *69. A confirmation message will be heard with the number of the last incoming call. To continue activation, dial 1. Otherwise, hang up to cancel activation.
To Deactivate: *89.

Automatic Recall
Automatic Recall is an easy way to redial your last dialed number. Once enabled on your account, this feature can be activated via your phone.
To Activate: *66. If the remote party is idle, your call will be completed immediately. If the remote party is busy, the line will be monitored until it is free. Once both parties are free, the call will be completed.
To Deactivate: *86.

Call Forwarding - Variable
Call Forwarding - Variable allows you to redirect calls to your number to another number. This is controlled by activation codes entered via your telephone.
To Activate: *72. After the activation code is dialed, a confirmation dialtone should be heard. After the dial tone is heard, dial the forward-to number.
To Deactivate: *73
While Call Forwarding - Variable is activated, you will not be able to answer any incoming calls. However, outgoing calls may still be placed.

Call Hold
Call Hold allows you to place a call on hold for an extended period of time. You can then return to the call from any extension, possibly after placing or receiving additional calls.
To Activate: *52. To pick up the call, dial *52 again.

Call Waiting
Call Waiting allows you to receive and be notified of incoming calls while on another call. You will be notified by a brief tone.
To pick up the new call: Press Flash. If your phone doesn't have a flash button, quickly go on-hook and back off. To switch back to the original call, press Flash again.
If you hang up while a Call Waiting call is incoming, the phone will ring. You may pick up the phone to answer the Call Waiting call.
To Cancel Call Waiting: *70. Call Waiting is activated again once your call ends. This is useful if you do not wish to be interrupted, or if you are placing a Fax or Modem call.

Caller ID Delivery Blocking
Caller ID Delivery Blocking suppresses the delivery of your name and number to the called party.
To Activate: *67. Normal Caller ID Delivery resumes on the next call.

Delayed Hot Line/Panic Line
Delayed Hot Line/Panic Line service connects your phone to a specific, pre-selected number if a number is not dialed within a certain amount of time after going off hook.
This feature must be activated/deactivated by service order.

Immediate Hot Line/Panic Line
Immediate Hot Line/Panic Line service connects your phone to a specific, pre-selected number immediately when a phone is taken off hook.
This feature must be activated/deactivated by service order

Three Way Calling
Three Way Calling allows you to add a third party to an existing call, regardless of who originated the call.
To Add a 3rd Party: Press Flash, wait for dial tone, dial the 3rd party number, and flash again.
To Remove the 3rd Party: Press Flash again. Once the 3rd party is disconnected, subsequent flashes are assumed to be a request for a new 3 way call.

Toll Block
With Toll Block, long distance calls, including 900/976 and international calls can only be made through the operator, who will either connect the caller to their long distance carrier, or connect the call after receiving a credit card number.
This service must be activated/deactivated by service order.

International Toll Blocking
International Toll Blocking allows you to make local and domestic (1+) long distance calls, but not international (011+ or 001+) long distance calls. Attempts to make international long distance calls will receive an announcement.
This service must be activated/deactivated by service order.

VoiceMail - Internet Enhanced
With our VoiceMail service you'll never miss a call again! If a call comes in on your line and is unanswered, or if your line is busy, the call will be redirected to your VoiceMail box. You can set up a custom greeting to be played to callers. You can also set up folders to store saved messages. With our exclusive Internet Enhancements, you can also configure your voicemail to be delivered to your email address for easy archival or access while out of town.
  • This service must be activated/deactivated by service order.
  • To access your mailbox from your LightNex line, simply dial *98.
  • To access your mailbox from any other phone, dial your phone number. When your greeting begins, press *. You will be prompted to enter your password.
